BMW planning F1 test for Zanardi
Alex Zanardi looks set to return to the cockpit of a Formula One car next month when he tests for the BMW Sauber team.The Italian racer, who lost his legs in an accident at the Lausitz circuit during a Champ Car round in 2001, is expected to test for the German squad at the Valencia circuit during the 25-26 weekend, coinciding with the Formula BMW World Final.
The test is yet to be made official, however, as the BMW team need to sort out details on what tyres they will be able to use in the car following Michelin's exit from Formula One and the impeding new contract with Bridgestone.
Zanardi last drove a Formula One car in 1999.
The Italian currently competes for BMW in the World Touring Car Championship.
